About this Archive

Administrative/Biographical History:

Gloria Lazenby was expected to be a secretary and a wife. However, she was an active member of CND all her life, worked for Tribune, worked for Camden Community Relations, a Camden Councillor for 12 years and Mayor of Camden. She was Chair of Camden Women's Committee. She stood as a local Independent Councillor because she was not prepared to vote for Library cuts and hence was not allowed to stand for Labour. She was a very active member of the London Canals Committee, very involved with the Socialist Film Society and Unity Theatre Folk Club (among other things) and she loved cats.

Scope and Content:

Papers, posters, press cuttings, publications, banner and ephemera regarding the life and work of Gloria Lazenby, socialist campaigner, Labour Councillor for St Pancras Borough [Camden] (1986-), Mayor of Camden (1996-1997), [1982-2016]

Quantity:

28 folders, 7 compact floppy disks, 1 DVD
