
Writing, Fiction and Memoir with Juliet Jacques
This course will take place in person.
Who is this course for?
Writers, in particular LGBTQ+ ones, who want to experiment with different forms of personal and autobiographical writing.
What can I expect?
The session will consist of an hour-long discussion of the genre conventions and boundaries of fiction, ‘auto-fiction’ and memoir, with reference to Leslie Feinberg’s novel Stone Butch Blues (1993). There will be a 20-minute writing exercise and class discussion.

Meet the Tutor

Juliet Jacques
Juliet Jacques is a writer and filmmaker based in London. She has published three books, including Trans: A Memoir (Verso, 2015) and the short story collection Variations (Influx, 2021). Her essays, criticism and journalism have appeared in many publications, from The London Review of Books to Tribune, and will be collected in Front Lines (Cipher Press, 2022). Her short films have screened in galleries and festivals worldwide. She teaches at the Royal College of Art and elsewhere.
