Terrence Higgins Trust: Bold and Brave since 1982
From the tragic losses of many loved ones to medical advances that would have seemed unthinkable a generation ago, the story of the HIV epidemic in the UK is an extremely complex one. Terrence Higgins Trust's archive, newly housed at Bishopsgate Institute, gives a unique perspective on this changing story, and is now accessible to the public for the first time.
Join us as we launch the THT archive at Bishopsgate Institute and celebrate the activism that revolutionised societal and governmental attitudes towards HIV, sex and sexual pleasure.
Featuring
- Contributions from prominent former members of Terrence Higgins Trust
- A special performance by Bakita Kasadha of a new poem to mark the occasion
- Displays from Terrence Higgins Trust's rich archive collection.

Please do not come to the Institute in person if you have symptoms or have tested positive.
Bishopsgate Institute has a thorough cleaning schedule in place and we clean the most populated areas more often. You will find hand-sanitising stations throughout the building as well as touch-free drinking fountains.

Terrence Higgins Trust
The Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity. It was formed in 1982 by friends of Terry Higgins, one of the first people to die of an AIDS related illness in the UK. The charity aimed to reduce the spread of HIV and promote good sexual health (including safe sex); to provide services on a national and local level to people with, affected by, or at risk of contracting HIV; and to campaign for greater public understanding of the impact of HIV and AIDS.
Terrence Higgins Trust continues to campaign, fighting stigma and promoting the message that HIV positive people with an undetectable viral load can’t pass on the virus.
