After falling in love with line dancing in LA in 2023, Laurie began teaching friends in early 2025 and started STRUT in July. STRUT has been featured in Vogue and Laurie taught over a thousand people at last year’s Reading Festival for Chappell Roan day. They run nights twice a month at Colour Factory and the London Irish Centre, merging queer and country culture together and particularly aiming to challenge whitewashed perceptions of line dancing. STRUT is all about creating space for the magical, communal energy created by dancing in unison with others.
