Oliver Carter
Oliver Carter is Professor in Creative Economies at Birmingham City University. His research explores hidden economies of cultural production, with a particular focus on the intersections of technology, law, and commerce. His work on Britain’s adult entertainment business has informed the award-winning documentary series Sexposed and the BBC series Bent Coppers: Crossing the Line of Duty. His most recent book, Under the Counter: Britain’s Trade in Hardcore Pornographic 8mm Films (2023), examines the underground film economy in postwar Britain through archival and material analysis.
