Bishopsgate Institute is looking for a Deputy Operations Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team as we welcome visitors, customers and venue clients to our busy and dynamic building.

The Deputy Operations Manager deputises for the Operations Manager across all on-site operations, including planning for successful event delivery, being a key holder, being on call to attend if required out of hours, and liaising with the Infrastructure & Facilities Manager.

They act as the Institute’s Data Protection Officer, ensuring we protect personal data and store it correctly across our systems and teams (electronic and hard copies).

They manage the Duty Managers and Event Technicians, including rota planning and adjustment, and line manage the Visitor Experience Team Lead, to ensure sufficient and appropriate staffing is confirmed across the needs of the operation, week to week.

Where necessary, they also cover Duty Manager shifts or breaks, including potentially at short notice, and may be required to unlock or lock the building.

This full-time role is to be performed across all seven days that the Institute business is operating, which can include evenings and weekends. The role is based at Bishopsgate Institute’s building and, although we consider flexible working requests, this role is expected to be performed fully on site. Given the nature of the events calendar, some flexibility will be needed in terms of when the hours are worked across the week.

Bishopsgate Institute is now very busy with, among other things, complex and sensitive filming hire bookings, and we are re-growing our own programme of classes, events and performances. This is therefore a varied and fast-paced role providing support across several teams, and it will suit someone proactive and flexible with a can-do attitude, experienced and confident in box office, reception and venue management, risk assessment, high quality events delivery and customer service, health and safety, and data protection, and with experience of working across multiple strands of work, including short-term tasks and medium-term project work.

Application deadline: Monday 12 January 2026 – 10am
Interview dates
First round: Thursday 29 January 2026
Second round: Thursday 05 February 2026

Successful applicants will demonstrate a keen understanding of Bishopsgate Institute’s unique offer, and a passion for the work we do here.

We only accept direct applications, and we do not accept CVs. Please no agencies.
