As a registered charity, every penny Bishopsgate Institute receives is invested into developing and delivering our programme for adults, keeping our Grade II* listed building and library open and accessible to all, and providing opportunities for people to explore their passions, develop creative projects and expand their knowledge and skills.
Much of our offer is free and we’d love to keep it that way.
Would you like to support our work?
Keep lunchtime concerts free
Your donation will support our free lunchtime concerts, a tradition since 1948, providing inspiration and respite from the world outside for an hour a week in a relaxed performance environment.
Support our library and archives
Your donation will support our free library, including access to a mind-boggling array of materials and an industry-leading team of archivists, whatever your project or research question.
Donate to Myra The Steinway
Your donation will help maintain Myra The Steinway, the 1927 Rosewood Model D Steinway Grand, owned and loved by Dame Myra Hess, who believed so strongly in the power of music to inspire, she overturned a government decision during the Second World War to close all galleries and concert halls and presented concerts to thousands as the bombs rained down on London.
Support our incubator
Your donation will enable us to continue to support creative practitioners, such as directors and choreographers developing shows, or early-career composers and writers.
Contribute to the bursary programme
Your donation will enable us to offer free or discounted places on our courses for adults to those without the means to pay full price (the bursary programme).
Donate a ticket
Your donation will buy an additional ticket to an event, such as a talk or concert, for someone without the means to pay full price.
Donate to restore and maintain the building
Your donation will enable us to maintain our extraordinary Grade II* listed building, now 125 years old, and keep it open and accessible to all.
General donations will go towards the provision of our programme and library and the maintenance of the building. Bursary donations will be used specifically for our courses programme. Enabling us to claim GiftAid will increase the value of your donation at no cost to you.
