The Pink Jukebox

From September to December 2017 Bishopsgate Institute is delighted to welcome The Pink Jukebox, a Ballroom and Latin dance club for members of the LGBT community and their friends. With classes followed by social dancing, these events are open to dancers of all levels, from absolute beginners to the more experienced. Classes take place from 14:00 until 16:30, followed by social dancing until 19:00.

London Talks - The East End - a brief but contentious history

Professor John Marriott's illuminating talk questions the nature of the East End as an object of historical inquiry. Challenging the prevailing mythology of the area as a site of criminality and degeneration, he seeks to explore the interconnections among the origins, geographical boundaries and cultural landscape of East London. More specifically, he addresses some mischievous questions about the where, what and when of the East End which have occupied the minds of various historians

Swing Den 6 October 2017

Are you new to Swing dance? Looking to venture onto the social dance floor? Look no further. Swing Den is a social dance especially for beginners (though everyone is welcome). There’ll be a taster lesson at the start of the night and two teachers on hand throughout the evening to answer your questions and to help you develop your moves.

Bishopsgate Swing 15 Oct 2017

Put on your dancing shoes and Lindy Hop away at Bishopsgate Swing, a social dance for dancers of all levels. Take the beginner taster class at the start of the night and then enjoy the sounds of the vintage DJs and guest live band. Past acts include Oliver’s Dime Notes, Cable Street Rag Band, Down for the Count and University of London Big Band.
