About this Archive

Administrative/biographical history

Save Leyton Marsh was a campaign group established to oppose the construction of a temporary basketball venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The group organised petitions, published open letters, and held events and protests in the local area. In 2012, a civil injunction hearing occurred with the High Court of Justice. This was lodged by the Olympic Delivery Authority against various protestors who blocked construction vehicles at Leyton Marsh. The group continues to campaign for Leyton Marsh to be restored to its condition prior to the use of the area for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and also works cooperatively with local and special interest groups to preserve the condition of land and ensure open community use.
