
Walking Tour - Architecture in the City of London
This walking tour will take place in person, starting at the exit to Barbican Underground Station on Aldersgate Street.
From utopian master planning of the post-war period, through some of the most iconic late-20th-century buildings in the city, to the most recent innovative designs and sustainable architecture. The cities ever-changing face will be encountered through some of its most exciting and controversial buildings.
Who is this tour for?
Anyone with an interest in the history of London and its architecture.
Will I need any equipment or materials for this course?
None, but comfortable walking shoes are advisable, together with clothing appropriate for the weather.

We regret that, due to the nature of the route, this tour is not accessible to anyone who uses a wheelchair or who is unable to use steps or stairs.

Steve Smith
Steve Smith is a lecturer and artist. Steve’s research looks at architecture, place and memory, with particular interest in psychogeography and the topography of London. Steve leads walks on London’s modern architecture and public art, has also has experience of teaching art, visual culture theory and architecture at several universities in the UK.
