Take your first steps into partner dancing. Benefit from a gentle pace and a friendly environment. Become more confident as a leader, a follower or both. Improve your focus, listening skills and assertiveness as you get to grips with the Slow Waltz.
You don't need to bring a partner, as you'll be invited to swap in order to develop sensitivity and presence in your partnering. This course is delivered in partnership with Rachel Sparks Dance.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who is new to partner dancing. Everyone is welcome in this safe space for LGBTQ+ people, and all partnering is gender neutral, meaning anyone can lead or follow as they wish.
Will I need any equipment or materials?
Standard-heeled soft leather shoes, medium heels or jazz shoes. Trainers are also acceptable, but no boots, stilettos, ballet pumps or backless shoes are allowed.
Meet the Tutor
Rachel trained in various classical and Latin and Ballroom techniques and gained a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance in 2007. Since launching Rachel Sparks Dance in 2012, her fundamental aim is to help people develop a sense of empowerment and body awareness whilst learning to dance. Rachel offers private lessons, group classes, personal coaching and community events with an emphasis on allowing anyone to take the lead/follow role. When she’s not teaching, Rachel co-creates performances with her dance partner as Iron&Sparks.
