This course will take place in person.
Pilates exercises use deep, slow movements that build core strength, tone the major muscle groups of the body, increase range of movement, and improve posture. The deep all-round strength that Pilates builds in the body encourages healthy patterns of movement when you practice regularly.
Who is this course for?
Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and those new to exercise, and this course is suitable for both beginners and experienced students.
Do I need any previous skills or knowledge?
None required. Any student suffering from an injury or condition that could be made worse by exercise should consult with their doctor or physical therapist before beginning the course. Adaptations and modifications can be provided to suit requirements and ability levels.
Will I need any equipment or materials?
You should wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
This is a fantastic course. Paula is a kind and competent instructor. She is always very welcoming of the group, and helps to keep us motivated. She also provides expert adjustment to improve our posture and technique. I regularly recommend this course to friends.
I left each week feeling like I was floating on air. Paula really knows how to open up our compressed, deskbound bodies. I'd recommend this course to anyone wishing to improve their physical and mental health.
Paula is a fantastic teacher and she has kept me coming back to do Pilates for the last few years. I also love the building itself.

If you test positive for Covid-19 or are asked to isolate and are not able to attend your class or pre-booked event, please contact the Bishopsgate Box Office for further information (enquiries@bishopsgate.org.uk). Please do not come to the Institute in person if you have symptoms or have tested positive.
Wearing a face mask is no longer compulsory but we ask you to consider others when in our building and especially when spending time in crowded and enclosed spaces where you come into contact with people you don’t normally meet. You will see many of our staff and volunteers continuing to wear face masks and we are keeping the perspex screens at our reception desks.
Bishopsgate Institute has strict cleaning protocols in place and ventilation throughout the building. There are hand-sanitising stations available throughout the building and touch-free drinking fountains. Find out more about how we’re keeping you safe.
