We will also work on selected elements of writing craft and technique, such as characterisation and narrative- building. Each session is structured around a theme, and there are opportunities to work across both fiction and non-fiction. Students will develop one writing exercise piece for the end of the programme, and there is time for personal writing tutorials in the final session.
Will I need any equipment or materials?
You will need a pen and notebook for in-class and at-home writing exercises and notes. You are invited to bring a writing journal and reading journal with you too, but this is optional. In session 1, you will be given a reading list of around 15 writing craft, creative ideas generation, writing process and published fiction and non-fiction texts. All students should select a book of your choice that reflects your personal writing interests for use in a mini book presentation during session 3 or 4.
Do I need any previous skills or knowledge?
You will need a fluent level of spoken and written English.
