Bishopsgate Choir is a supportive environment for beginners and more experienced singers alike. With a varied repertoire taking in popular classics, gospel, folk, classical and show tunes, the sessions will offer singers technical advice and support, as well as the joy of singing in harmony.
The final session of the term will be an opportunity to perform in front of family and friends.
Meet the Tutor
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Helen sang as a soprano soloist at English National Opera, The Linbury Studio, Garsington Opera and Chelsea Opera Group, and The Phantom of the Opera, as well as many premieres of new work. In 2017, Helen produced the UK premiere of The Juniper Tree by Philip Glass. She gave her first Ted Talk, ‘Tell me the truth about Opera’ at Cass Business School. Helen’s book Singing Tips at your Fingertipswas described by The Guardian as ‘The place to find the singer within’.

The first drop-in session can only be booked in-person at reception. All remaining sessions will be available to book online 24 hours before the start of the second session.
Founded in 1977 by Bette Bourne, the cabaret and drag troupe Bloolips performed in the UK and internationally for over 25 years, in shows such as Lust in Space, Gland Motel, Sticky Buns and Slung Back and Strapless, winning several awards along the way. The collection includes photographs, posters, publicity materials and press reviews of these anarchic maestros of camp.
