A Short History of the East End (1880s - 1970s)
We’ll use hundreds of original historical items, from Victorian illustrations of opium smokers to interwar mugshots to post-war guidebooks to Cockney life, to recreate the sights and sounds of London’s East End. Throughout, the emphasis will be on the experiences of local people, among them immigrants, dockers, anarchists, police officers, social explorers and philanthropists.
