Writing, Fiction and Memoir with Juliet Jacques
Please note the date of this course has changed to Wednesday 9 August. Ticketholders will be contacted by the box office.
In a safe space for you to feel open and relaxed, join this discussion with writer and filmmaker, Juliet Jacques. Author of three books - including Trans: A Memoir (Verso, 2015) - Juliet will share her thoughts on different aspects of writing, then provide the opportunity for you to take what you've learnt and put it into practice. Though the class will have a focus on LGBTQ+ writers, works and experiences, it is open to all who have an interest.
What can I expect?
The session will consist of an hour-long discussion of the genre conventions and boundaries of fiction, ‘auto-fiction’ and memoir, with reference to Leslie Feinberg’s novel Stone Butch Blues (1993), followed by a 20-minute writing exercise and further class discussion.
Who is this course for?
Writers, in particular LGBTQ+ ones, who want to experiment with different forms of personal and autobiographical writing.
I need any equipment or materials?
Pen and paper, and/or laptop to write on.
