Taking inspiration from materials in the Bishopsgate Institute’s historic archive and library, learn how to design and make your own unique book(s). Over this practical six‑week course you will learn to use and explore collage with images and texts, paper engineering techniques, simple bookbinding methods, paper cutting and folding, mixed media, and other practical approaches to create your own bespoke ‘artist’s’ books. Looking at examples of artist’s books and using the techniques you have learned on the course, you will be guided in developing both figurative and abstract narratives to find your own visual language in the creation of your book.

The course takes place in the historic setting of Bishopsgate Institute and materials from the library, as well as copies of archival material, will be available to participants. There will be a small exhibition of selected books at the end of the course.
