Anita Datta
Dr Anita Datta is a professional musician, researcher, and pedagogue working at the intersection of inclusivity and the performing arts. She is a conductor, composer, organist and soprano of international standing, and holds a doctorate in Social Anthropology from Durham University. Her academic research specialises in the ethics of activism, advocacy, and community, with a particular focus on Queer lives and the South Asia region. As a performer, she is best known as the founder and Artistic Director of vocal ensemble The Swan Consort, and has written pieces for prestigious ensembles including the BBC Singers and the National Youth Choir. Her advocacy for radical inclusion and systemic change at all levels of the arts and charitable sectors is informed by her professional expertise and lived experience of intersectionality. She is also a proficient ballroom dancer, and is a regular attendee at the Bishopsgate Institute’s rich programme of social dances.
