New Acquisitions
Our Special Collections and Archives team have recently received new deposits of archives material from The Sixty Nine Club (the oldest gay leather fetish club in Europe); the library of pioneering sociologist and activist Jeffrey Weeks; and additions of material for the Format Photography Agency Archive, including images of the first Women’s Liberation Conference at Ruskin College in 1970.

We have welcomed guests from Opening Doors London, a social group for LGBTQ folk over 50, the University of the Arts, Queen Mary University of London and library and archives staff from the Wellcome Collection.

Out of the Library
This month we were invited to contribute to the Archives, Activism and Social Media Workshop organised by the University of Cambridge Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. The workshop brought together world leaders from memory institutions, heritage tech and research institutions as well as attracting activists from as far afield as Egypt and the USA. Nicky Hilton, our Digital Archives Manager, showcased the work we are doing with activists in the UK including our collecting around the Women’s March on London and future strategies for capturing born digital materials.
