Long Shadows, High Hopes: In conversation with THE THE
To celebrate the launch of Long Shadows, High Hopes: the Life and Times of Matt Johnson and THE THE, join us for this very special evening event in the beautiful Great Hall at Bishopsgate Institute featuring Matt Johnson in conversation with author Neil Fraser and publisher Scott Pack.
From life in an East End pub to fame on a global stage, Matt Johnson – founder, songwriter and visionary lynchpin of iconic band THE THE – created some of the most vital music of his era. At this event, hear more from Matt as he shares tales from the early days to glory days, through the paths of his retreat from public life and return with THE THE in 2017.
Long Shadows, High Hopes, is the authorised biography, with free access to the THE THE archives, working from hundreds of hours of interviews with Johnson and his contemporaries and colleagues – including Johnny Marr, Johanna St Michaels, JG Thirlwell and Tim Pope – in which Neil Fraser has drawn back the curtain on brilliant enigma Matt Johnson.

Event time: 19.30 - 21.00.   (Doors open at 19.00).

A limited edition version of the book, numbered, with an exclusive Andy Dog print and slipcase, will be available to purchase at this event.

There will be a bar accepting card, contactless and cash payments. You may not bring your own drinks to this event.
