By the late 19th century, Londoners were starting to tackle the huge inequalities which existed between rich and poor. Through philanthropic and state initiatives they improved and extended housing out to the suburbs, opened up green spaces and built sports and educational facilities and hospitals which we can still see today. Using original sources from Bishopsgate Archives as well other primary and secondary sources, you will discover the contrasts of late Victorian London from the height of imperialism to wretched poverty.

This classroom-based course is suitable for those with little knowledge of London's history as well as those keen to expand their existing knowledge.
