Fascinating London photos

We've just started putting some of the many photographic highlights from our extensive library collections on Flickr.

The first selection of photographs to go up are from a collection of over 3000 glass slides left at Bishopsgate Institute by the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society (LAMAS) when it moved its library to the Museum of London in 1977.

The collection features images of most of London's landmarks, churches, open spaces, statues and buildings, alongside social and cultural scenes and portraits of the famous from the turn of the century to the interwar period. The collection can also be searched via our online catalogue.
