How do I enrol for a course?

Please see the How to enrol page.

I am having problems with enrolling online. Who should I contact?

If you have any problems with your online enrolment, email us or phone 020 7392 9200.

What if my chosen course is full?

If your course of choice is full then please contact the box office and ask to join the waiting list. We will need your full name, email and a contact phone number and will contact you if a place becomes available or a new course is opened.

If you submit an enrolment by post for a full course then we will contact you. You will be offered the chance to join the course waiting list or to pick another course.

Waiting lists are not transferred onto the next term so places will not be reserved on future courses for those on the waiting list.

Do you offer concessions on course fees?

Yes, concessionary rates (25% discount) are available subject to eligibility and availability.  Please read Concessions and Free Places page for more details.

Am I able to get a refund if I am unable to attend my course?

You may request a refund or transfer. Please see our Refunds and Transfers section for further details.

Are all your courses held at Bishopsgate Institute itself?

All courses except our walking courses and select art history courses are usually held at our building at 230 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 4QH.

How do I know which level of course to enrol on?

Please see the course outlines for level guides.

For further advice on language levels you can also attend one of our regular Languages Open Days where experienced tutors will help you decide which level is most suitable for you. For additional help or information you can contact us by email or phone 020 7392 9200.

Do I pay a pro-rata rate if I enrol late for a course?

We are unable to offer pro-rata rates so you will need to pay the full course fee whenever you enrol for a course. We are usually only able to accept enrolments up to the third week of a course.

When does the next prospectus come out?

We run three course terms a year, spring (January - April), summer (April - August) and autumn (September - December). The prospectus would be available about 4-6 weeks before the start of each term.

Enrolment opens on the same day that the new prospectus is available. We have lunchtime, afternoon, evening and weekend courses to accommodate the busiest of schedules.

Are there courses starting mid-way through the term?

Yes, many of our leisure, Performing Arts, Body and Exercise courses start mid-way through the term. Visit the courses search page to see what's available.

How can I enrol more than one person on the same course?

We need to have the details for all individual students who enrol on a course. You must provide these at the time of booking.

If you're enrolling on-line you will be prompted to include your friends details during the booking process or you can email them to us after you have completed the enrolment.

Can I buy a gift voucher for a course to give to a friend as a present?

We have gift vouchers available for our courses. Unfortunately these cannot be purchased on-line but are available at our box office.

If you wish to enrol a friend as a gift, please contact us to complete the enrolment and we will be able to provide you with a gift enrolment letter to pass to your friend.

How can I contact my course tutor?

You can email us and we will pass your message to your tutor.

I can't attend my class this week. Can I attend a class on another night to make up for it?

No, unfortunately swapping between courses is not possible. This is both for health and safety reasons and because it would be impossible for us to accommodate every student who made this request.

I am going to miss my language course this week. Can I get some homework?

If you do not have your tutor's contact details then please contact us and we will endeavour to supply you with homework.

Are your language tutors native speakers?

Yes, all our language tutors are native speakers of the language they teach.

For dance courses, do I need to enrol with a partner?

No, you do not need to bring a partner to any of our courses.

What should I wear to my dance or exercise class?

Details of what to wear for each course can be found in the course outlines.

Do you have changing facilities?

Yes. Our changing rooms are located on the lower ground floor, alongside the studios where our body and exercise and performing arts courses take place.
