LAGNA: Live and Let Louche in the Library
The Lesbian and Gay Newsmedia Archive (LAGNA
) at Bishopsgate Institute present a series of discussions on queer history and culture as part of the Underground London
Sex between men in public areas such as toilets and parks has been commonplace for at least a century, and continues today despite legal reforms which finally decriminalised male homosexual acts.
Speakers include writer and journalist Mark Simpson
reflecting on cruising, from personal experiences on Hampstead Heath to the media misreporting of men caught in the act outdoors.
We regret that, as per originally advertised, Dr Matt Houlbrook
will no longer be speaking at this event.
Advance booking recommended
BSL interpreters will be present as this event
