Noel, Noël: an evening of classic Coward

Join us for a selection of songs, verse and scenes from the man they called ‘The Master’.

Performers Charlotte Vaughan and Tim Southgate will take you through their favourite pieces of Noël Coward’s work in a specially commissioned festive cabaret accompanied by Musical Director Matheson Bayley and directed by Anna Pool. Noël Coward (1899-1973) was a celebrated twentieth-century playwright, actor, director, film producer, song-writer and cabaret artist.

Tim Southgate
Tim trained at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was sponsored by the Noel Coward Foundation and the Mackintosh Foundation. His credits since training include A Little Night Music, Fingask Follies, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and A Brief Encounter with Noel Coward. He has also appeared in concert versions of Honeymoon In Vegas, Candide, and Mack and Mabel with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra. Follow @southgatetim.

Charlotte Vaughan
Charlotte trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the Royal Academy of Music.  She made her West End debut in The Phantom of the Opera, where she spent two years. Other credits include How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Mack and Mabel with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra. Follow @charlvaughan.

Matheson Bayley
Matheson is a multi-award-winning composer and lyricist, with clients ranging from the BBC and Tim Burton, to the Mantovani Orchestra and Sony PlayStation. Having studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music, recent commissions include A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Sydney Festival, writing and producing the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 & 2016 Interval Acts, and orchestrations for Applause at the London Palladium. Matheson teaches at GSA, Italia Conti, the Urdang Performing Arts Academy; has sung on the soundtracks of 20 Disney films; and has musically directed more than 30 shows, most recently Secret Cinema’s Moulin Rouge.

Anna Pool
Anna was nominated for a New British Music Theatre award in 2016 for her work in directing new music theatre and opera. She has directed work for companies including Finborough Theatre, English Touring Opera, Mahogany Opera Group and Wilton’s Music Hall as well as numerous site-specific works with her company, workshOPERA including critically-acclaimed LGBT nightclub piece, Boys of Paradise. As a staff director, Anna has worked for companies including Scottish Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, London Symphony Orchestra and The Other Palace (formerly St. James), and goes on to assist at English National Opera in 2018. Originally, she studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama winning the Edmund Rubbra Composition Prize in 2015. @AnnaPool3  www.anna-pool.com/
