We will walk from Smithfield to Liverpool Street, following part of the Roman wall, hearing about the Roman soldiers protecting the city from marauders, the Saxons defending themselves from the Vikings, the livery companies’ opposition to foreign traders, the church’s to dissidents, and the money makers to raiders. Last but not least, the brave citizens and great military heroes of twentieth-century conflicts.

Meeting point: Farringdon Station.
