This course will combine practical photography with Bishopsgate Institute’s extensive street photography collections.

Since opening in 1895, Bishopsgate Institute has been collecting street photography of London, particularly Spitalfields and surrounding areas. In the first session you will be introduced to photographs ranging from 1877 to the present day, their origin and context, and why they have become such valuable documents in recording the history of the East End of London.

In subsequent sessions you will take your own digital photographs of the local area, guided by a photography tutor, and at the end of the course there will be the opportunity for students to add their very own images to the library’s collection.

**Due to unforeseen circumstances, this course has been cancelled.**
