UK Leather Archive
The UK Leather Archive at Bishopsgate Institute seeks to document and celebrate the history and heritage of the Gay/Bi leather, rubber and fetish communities in the UK, and to provide access to the archive to researchers, students and the general public for education and research.
The collection consists of magazines, pamphlets, posters, ephemera, t-shirts and artefacts, alongside minutes, financial records and other archival material from numerous Motor Sports Clubs (MSCs) and groups across the UK. There is also much material regarding the leather, rubber and fetish scene and organisations in Europe.
Archives have so far been received from the following groups:
We are always seeking to build on the archive and welcome donations from further groups and individuals of archival material, books, magazines, ephemera, clothing and artefacts relating to leather, rubber and fetish history in the UK and Europe. To donate, please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The UK Leather Archive is open and accessible to all and items from the collections can be viewed at the Bishopsgate Institute’s Researchers Area during Library opening hours. More information here.
